Corridor Gallery is delighted to announce our second exhibition ”Shadows & Echos” by Justyna Neryng, a multi-award winning fine art photographer.
This unusual twin exhibition devised by Justyna presents two series of astonishing images; “Childhood Lost – Echos” a collaborative project with her daughter charting the highly imaginative and precious moments of childhood play. The inclusion of Justyna’s haunting series of nudes in motion “Ghost Dance – Shadows” provides an atmospheric sense of parallel and duality to the space.
The series of portraits realized in the “Childhood Lost – Echos” project first began with mother and daughter at play in a forest, mimicking the artists childhood spent exploring similar scenery in rural Poland. Justyna presents a powerful series of portraits of her daughter Nell, who confidently adopts characters and a narrative born from timeless folklore and mythology. The series is resplendent with handmade ornate props and costumes enhancing the rich, painterly sensibility of each image and character Nell embodies.
“Ghost Dance – Shadows” channels a haunting and fluid movement of womanhood with true delicacy and respect for the female form. Justyna Neryng has created a dauntless series of nudes; deeply powerful, graceful with piercing honesty. Through Justyna’s painterly eye, sense of lighting and confident understanding of tone and form, influenced by the Dutch Masters – the viewer encounters arresting feminine forms of antiquity; evoking the ghostliness of women through history conveyed in the relatively modern medium of photography.
Brighton’s newest exhibition space Corridor Gallery is thrilled to showcase Justyna’s talent and the astounding images her self-assured vision, distinctive style and technical wizardry create.
Justyna Neryng “resides in her adopted home of Hove”, exhibiting her sumptuous and adept portraiture in England and regularly showcases her works in her childhood home of Poland and all over Europe.
